Kenya Air Force Delivers Relief Supplies To Flood Victims In Sudan

Foreign Affairs CAS Hon Ababu-Terrah Namwamba and Officials of the Government of the Republic of Sudan display some of the relief supplies donated by the government of Kenya.

The Kenya Air Force (KAF) facilitated transportation of emergency relief to the Republic of Sudan on 15 September 2019, following floods experienced in the country. The relief distribution was an initiative of the Government of Kenya spearheaded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in conjunction with the Ministry of Defence.

The Government of Kenya donated assorted dried vegetables, milk and Kenyan tea leaves to Khartoum, Sudan following devastating floods in Blue Nile and Khartoum regions that left 65,000 people displaced, 65 dead and livestock and property worth millions lost.

While handing over the donation in Khartoum, Foreign Affairs CAS Hon Ababu-Terrah Namwamba presented a message of encouragement from His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The relief consignment aboard a KAF aircraft was received by officials of the Government of the Republic of Sudan led by Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs Ambassador Ilham Ahmed and the Commissioner General of the Sudan Humanitarian Aid Commission Dr. Mohamed Mustafa. Also present during the handover was Kenyan Defence Attache Col S S Rashid and a team of KAF Officers headed by aircraft Captain Lt Col Felix Gitaari.
