Defence Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ambassador Raychelle Omamo on Tuesday, 30 October 2018 paid a visit to Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidates at the Moi Forces Academy, Eastleigh Nairobi in a bid to encourage them for their final examinations.

While addressing the students, CS Omamo urged them not to be fearful, as exams were just a part of normal academic life that all people go through. “I ask you to be brave, as your parents, some of whom are KDF soldiers and have set an example to you. Examinations shall come and go, and the greatest favour you can do to yourself is to do your best,” she said.

She also urged the students to embrace integrity and discipline, mentioning them as pillars which all successful people had taken seriously.

The Vice Chief of Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Robert Kibochi, while giving his remarks said, “do not be discouraged, anything is possible to a willing heart. Face the exams with strength, and may the discipline you have developed at this school propel you to the greatest achievable heights”.

Kenya Air Force Commander Major General Francis Ogolla mentioned that the entire team led by the CS had come purposely to encourage the students, and it was upon them to make good of what they had taken up from their teachers and the school as they faced the KCSE. “I see a bright future in each and every one of you and I wish you all the best as you cross this stage,” he said.

Deputy Kenya Army Commander Major General Thomas Chepkuto highlighted the importance of self confidence in the students, mentioning that not only in the examinations, but it was an integral part of self development. These sentiments were echoed by Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics (ACDF P&L) Major General Fatma Ahmed who challenged the students to ensure that they turned up productive members of the society once they left school.

The Defence CS had earlier met with the management and staff of the school who assured her that candidates had been well prepared for the examinations.

Senior KDF Officers and Ministry of Defence Officials and the school management including Parents and Teachers Association Chairman Colonel J V Kigen, Board of Governors Chairman Charles Muhia and Principal Norman Kiogora and teachers were also present.
